I’m sure you’ve heard of the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears and how Goldilocks was… well, a pretty picky eater. I mean if it’s too hot just wait a couple minutes and if it’s too cold pop it in the microwave! (I would suggest warming it up on the stove rather than using a microwave but that’s a different topic 🙂 ). So here are three different versions of oatmeal! I know everyone isn’t that crazy about oatmeal but I love oatmeal. Especially when it’s so cold outside and it’s snowing ( I loooooove snow!). I find oatmeal so warming and comforting during the winter months! I would also like to add it has a lot of health benefits and is great at keeping you regular if you know what I mean ;). As you might remember, Goldilocks seemed to have gorgeous blonde hair… well, that’s because she ate her oatmeal and oatmeal is very high in manganese. Manganese helps maintain healthy hair. Oatmeal also has iron in it to help keep that hair strong (Rapunzel ate a lot of oatmeal!). Iron also helps keep your nails strong. Would you like to know the secret to how Goldilocks and Rapunzel and all those Disney princesses’s have such flawless skin? …. Oats are also high in antiaging selenium. Selenium helps with skin elasticity! So there ya go! Start incorporating oatmeal into your diet and those are just some of the health benefits. To see more health benefits click here.
Side note: Go for gluten free and organic oatmeal as I’m sure you just want oatmeal and not oatmeal with a side of weed killer.
As I’m sure we have all seen on Instagram, there are plenty of ways to jazz up your oatmeal! So have fun and add whatever you’re in the mood for. You can go healthy with nuts and fruit or if you’re craving something sweet add a drizzle of Nutella or honey.

I add frozen fruit. I put a 1/2 cup -1 cup (depending on how hungry I am) of oats and then 1/4-1/2 cup of frozen fruit, plus some water or milk (cashew or almond). Everything just heats up and melts together Mmmmm. Raspberries are my favorite because they give it a nice sweet taste for all my sweet tooth lovers out there. I had blueberries in the freezer today so that’s what I went with. I also added 2 Brazil nuts for some extra health benefits.
This is my lazy version and what I have been eating right now. I am trying to get my sugar addiction under control so I have been cutting out sugar. This is just some oats, with cinnamon and earth balance butter.
New to Oatmeal?
If you’re not a huge fan of oatmeal another favorite of mine is to combine one of those oatmeal packets from the store (my favorite flavors are apple cinnamon or maple) with 1/4 cup of regular oats. Then it gives you some extra taste.
When I am staying in a hotel or traveling I always bring some oatmeal packets with me. All you need is hot water, a cup and a spoon and you’re good to go. I’ve even gone to Starbucks and asked for a cup of hot water, which they have always given me. In the picture below I just used one of my shakers. I did not like the taste of those oatmeal packets from Target just FYI. Probably the only thing I’ve ever not liked from Target!
Below is a great brand with zero sugar that you can just add water too! Keep one in your lunch bag, car, or maybe even gym bag depending how stinky it is for emergency! All you need is some hot water.
